The Client

The Cruiser Company is a building and construction business based in Pakenham, VIC. Their in house trades services team also specialises in residential carpentry, framing, fit-outs, finishing works, and general building support services. The business delivers carpentry solutions across residential projects, focusing on workmanship quality, structural accuracy, and compliance with construction and safety standards.

They are seeking an experienced Carpenter to join their team in Pakenham, VIC.

The Role

The Carpenter is responsible for carrying out residential carpentry works including framing, installation, finishing, and structural construction activities in accordance with project specifications and building requirements.

This is a permanent, full-time position with an annual salary of $78,000 - $82,000 per annum plus superannuation.

The Responsibilities

Install fixtures, windows, cabinetry and trims to enhance interior aesthetics and functionality

Fit door locksets, deadbolts and hardware according to manufacturer instructions and site requirements

Perform framing, finish work and restoration carpentry tasks across residential construction projects

Measure, shape and cut materials to specified dimensions using hand tools, machines and power saws

Read and interpret plans, measurements and site instructions for carpentry work

Construct and install structural frameworks, partitions, floors and roof components in accordance with project specifications

Assemble and install timber structures, fittings and prefabricated building materials on residential sites

Operate and maintain carpentry tools, woodworking machinery and construction equipment safely and efficiently

Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and workplace safety across all carpentry activities

The Requirements

Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification

Minimum 1 year experience as a Carpenter within residential construction environments

At least 1 year experience performing framing, finishing, and general carpentry installation works on residential projects

At least 1 year carpentry experience with LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) and CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) structural components

At least 1 year carpentry experience installing and detailing HCS (Hybrid Cladding Systems), R/S (Roof Sarking), and VCL (Vapour Control Layer) with moisture management and weatherproofing specifications.

At least 1 year experience coordinating carpentry interfaces with engineered substrates including GLT beams, PFC, and commercial-grade acoustic and fire-rated timber systems

At least 1 year experience installing doors, windows, cabinetry, trims, and structural timber components

Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, carpentry techniques, and building materials

Ability to measure, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately to project specifications

Strong understanding of workplace health and safety procedures and construction compliance standards

Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with other trades and site personnel

Good communication and problem-solving skills within construction site environments

High attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality

Valid Driver’s Licence
