In this role you will run your own appointment book with the freedom to manage your day, while our dentists look after examinations and treatment planning. Position title: Dental Hygienist

Employment type: Casual or Subcontract

Days and hours: 2 to 3 days per week, aligned to Principal Dentist and treating dentist clinic days

Reports to: Principal Dentist

Role description:

1) Caring for our patients

Carrying out professional cleaning (scaling, root debridement, prophylaxis and polishing) within your scope of practice.

Providing preventive care such as topical fluoride and fissure sealants.

Checking and recording gum health, and keeping an eye on each patient's periodontal progress.

Taking and interpreting dental radiographs where you are qualified and licensed.

Flagging anything outside your scope and referring it to the treating dentist so patients always get the right care.

2) Helping patients smile with confidence

Sharing friendly, practical oral-hygiene advice tailored to each person.

Making every visit a positive experience and encouraging patients to keep up their regular check-ups.

3) Keeping things running smoothly

Keeping clear, accurate notes in our practice software.

Following our infection prevention and control protocols

4) Looking after your patients beyond the chair

Making post-treatment follow-up calls independently to check in on patients and answer any questions.

Managing your own appointment book, time and patient flow with the independence you would expect.

Working in step with the treating dentist for examinations during your appointments.

Requirements:

Current AHPRA registration as a Dental Hygienist, with no restrictions.

At least 2 years' experience in a dental practice.

Confidence to run your own appointment book and manage your day independently.

Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, friendly manner with patients and the team.

The ability to run post-treatment follow-up calls independently.

Good with practice software.

A good grounding in infection control.

Current CPR and first-aid certification.

Other requirements, if available:

Experience in a private practice setting.

Hands-on experience with clinical software.

An NSW radiation licence to take dental radiographs.

A genuine interest in preventive and periodontal care.
