Position Overview:

Award Solutions Australia is an Australian-owned company specialising in infrastructure, water, transport and industrial projects throughout NSW. The company delivers multidisciplinary construction services including mechanical installations and process systems, structural steel installation, piping systems, civil works, protective coatings and critical shutdown works.

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will provide technical support for the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, maintenance and refurbishment of mechanical plant, equipment and process systems, with a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Assist with the preparation, interpretation and application of mechanical drawings, specifications, manuals, P&IDs and technical work instructions for mechanical plant, equipment and process systems.

• Assist engineers and project personnel with the installation, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance and refurbishment of mechanical equipment and systems, including pumps, valves, process equipment, pipework and associated mechanical components.

• Conduct technical inspections, measurements and operational checks on mechanical plant and equipment to assess equipment condition and identify faults, wear, alignment issues and maintenance requirements.

• Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults and investigating equipment performance issues by reviewing technical information, inspection findings and test results, and support the determination of appropriate corrective actions.

• Carry out and verify equipment alignment, levelling, adjustment and other mechanical installation activities in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances and manufacturer requirements.

• Support preventative and scheduled maintenance programs by assessing equipment condition, documenting inspection findings and assisting with technical servicing and refurbishment requirements.

• Assist with testing and commissioning activities, collect and record equipment performance data and test results, and verify completed mechanical works against relevant technical and operational requirements.

• Prepare and maintain technical records, inspection results, maintenance reports, equipment information, test documentation and quality records relating to mechanical works.

• Liaise with engineers, project managers, supervisors, tradespeople and client representatives to investigate and resolve technical issues and support the effective delivery of mechanical works at project sites.

• Monitor mechanical installation, testing and maintenance activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable engineering drawings, technical specifications, Australian Standards, client requirements and company quality procedures.

• Apply company WHS, environmental, quality and Integrated Management System requirements when undertaking technical inspections, testing, commissioning, maintenance and project support activities.

• Provide technical support across project and client sites associated with the company's water, industrial and infrastructure operations, including mechanical equipment and process-system refurbishment, maintenance and upgrade works.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Relevant qualification.

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or in a closely related position.

• Sound technical knowledge of mechanical plant, equipment, components and process systems.

• Strong mechanical fault-finding, inspection, testing and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical specifications, manuals and P&IDs.

• Sound knowledge of WHS requirements, quality procedures, applicable Australian Standards and safe work practices within industrial and project environments.

Salary:

The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $79,000 – $90,000 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
