The Right Person

Will provide in-depth technical product knowledge and general engineering service to support the sale of new equipment and aftermarket parts and service

Will provide and maintain specific expertise in their nominated product line (Conveyor Pulleys) and all related Software specific to the Product Line not limited to Design, detail design and drafting

Will oversee all Research and Technology Development (RTD), New Product Development (NPD) and Current Product Engineering (CPE) tasks within Conveyor Components (CC).

To be considered for this opportunity, the right person will have:

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor degree in Engineering

A proven track record with a relevant experience in Engineering in mining & construction business or steel related industry

Expert and highly skilled in material handling conveyor components

Nominated Product Line Manufacturing experience

Nominated Product Line Expert Design Experience

A good understanding of the mining industry and work practices is desirable

Knowledge of and experience with Sandvik Mining and Construction product range

Knowledge of Sandvik’s way of working would be beneficial

Your daily duties will include however are not limited to;

Technical

Maintain high level knowledge and experience in a specific Prok product line (Conveyor Pulleys), as nominated in the organisational structure for the group

Undertake product application process support from initial conceptualization of solution to delivery of operational outcome

Responsible for the background design fundamentals and equations

Understand the operation of NEPEAN industrial equipment and provide technical assistance during project installation, commissioning, and maintenance

Ensures calculations for mechanical, elements of design are conducted to the appropriate standards

Responsible person for the development and deployment of our proprietary internal Pulley design Program

In depth knowledge of pulley design encompassing end disc stress cause and effect, shaft design locking assembly selection

Undertake investigations into the failure or sub-standard performance of Prok equipment using specialist product knowledge

Business Growth and Development

Lead the regional engineering team to support the Sales group in generating business by providing assistance with product selection, and developing value propositions, including product enhancements, that suit particular client applications

Liaise with Sales and Engineering Manager, as required, to provide information that supports the ongoing development and improvement of Prok products

Track and report the appropriate metrics for R&D

Maintain and develop any required product templates, e.g. BOMs and drawing templates, within the Product Lifecycle Management tool

Oversee the patent application process for new CC designs

Responsible for the nominated product line for all technical queries from Operations, that cannot be adequately clarified by the Production Engineer.

Customer Service

As appropriate provide audit services at client’s sites for the purpose of identifying improvement and value add opportunities

Support the Business Infrastructure / Segment Aftermarket groups to rectify operational problems with Prok equipment.

Financial Experience – awareness of financial performance of the business
