Telecommunications Field Engineer

Earth Telecom Pty LTD EARTH TELECOM PTY LTD is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Telecommunications Field Engineer to join our telecommunications operations in Point Cook, Victoria. The position is responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis and technical support of fibre optic, HFC and mixed telecommunications networks. The successful applicant will work across telecommunications infrastructure and associated network equipment, ensuring installations and network activities are completed in accordance with approved designs, client specifications, industry standards and workplace health and safety requirements.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of telecommunications networks, the ability to interpret drawings and specifications, and practical experience in network testing, fault finding and commissioning. Benefits Job Type: Full-time Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 per annum + superannuation Company Car Annual leave Sick leave Task & responsibilities Analyse telecommunications drawings, specifications and network designs to determine equipment configurations, locations and connection requirements.

Plan, configure, install, test and commission fibre optic, HFC and mixed telecommunications network systems and associated equipment. Diagnose, investigate and rectify telecommunications network faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment. Configure and commission active and passive telecommunications network equipment in accordance with technical specifications and client requirements.

Conduct network testing and performance verification to ensure telecommunications systems operate within required technical standards. Coordinate network cutovers, planned outages and commissioning activities to minimise disruption to telecommunications services. Inspect completed telecommunications installations and verify compliance with approved network designs, technical specifications and applicable industry standards.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, network records, test results, post-installation designs, mud maps and as-built documentation. Provide technical guidance and support to field technicians undertaking telecommunications installation, maintenance, pit and pipe, manhole and aerial network works. Liaise with clients, project supervisors, technicians and design teams regarding network configuration, installation, faults and commissioning requirements.

Apply relevant telecommunications, fibre optic, HFC, electronic and WHS standards throughout installation and commissioning activities. Investigate network performance issues and recommend appropriate technical solutions, modifications and corrective actions. Assist with the configuration and integration of associated communications and security systems, including IP cameras, NVRs and access-control equipment, where required.

Ensure assigned telecommunications works are completed within project schedules and in accordance with client and company quality requirements. Qualification & experience A degree, diploma or relevant qualification in Telecommunications, Information Technology or a related discipline. A minimum of two years of relevant full-time experience in fibre optic, HFC or mixed telecommunications network installation, testing and commissioning.

Practical experience with fibre optic and HFC telecommunications networks. Experience working with NBN, Telstra or comparable telecommunications infrastructure. Demonstrated experience in telecommunications network testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.

Ability to interpret telecommunications drawings, network designs and technical specifications. Knowledge of active and passive telecommunications network equipment. Knowledge of applicable telecommunications and workplace safety standards.

A current driver's licence.
