Movers Choice & Co Pty Ltd Movers Choice & Co is an established transport and logistics operator based in Fairfield. We run local and interstate linehaul and goods transport, commercial and residential relocations, packing and materials supply, and a reusable plastic crate hire division. We operate a mixed fleet of heavy and light vehicles across metropolitan and interstate networks, supported by our own crews and our own transport management, safety and compliance systems.

As we have grown, the fleet has become central to how the business runs, and we now need an experienced Fleet Manager to own it properly. This is a senior, hands on role and you take full technical and operational control of our vehicle fleet and mobile assets across the network. You report directly to the Managing Director and you sit across the entire fleet function, from the vehicles and plant through to the drivers, the compliance and the numbers.

You are based at our depot and you are expected to be across the fleet in person and to run it to a professional standard, not from behind a desk. The role suits someone who has already carried this level of accountability in a transport or logistics operator and who understands that in this industry the fleet, the compliance and the cost base are the business. Day to day you will plan and coordinate linehaul and metropolitan transport, keep the fleet safe and roadworthy, keep our accreditation in order, manage the people who drive for us, and keep a close eye on what the fleet costs to run.

You will be the person the Managing Director relies on to make sure nothing on the road side of the business slips. Benefits Task & responsibilities What the job involves: Managing the acquisition, registration, fit out, maintenance and disposal of heavy and light vehicles, plant, equipment and fuel, and overseeing the reusable crate hire pool Planning linehaul and metropolitan transport schedules and coordinating collections and deliveries across local and interstate lanes Running repair and maintenance (R&M) scheduling, preventative maintenance programs and roadworthiness, and managing vehicle off road (VOR) time and defect rectification Holding the fleet and drivers to Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations and NHVAS accreditation across the Mass, Maintenance and Fatigue Management modules, along with all work health and safety duties Managing drivers, including rosters, licence and medical currency, electronic work diaries (EWD) and fatigue management Using the transport management system (TMS) and fleet telematics to monitor utilisation, cost per kilometre and fleet performance, and reporting against KPIs Managing fleet budgets, capital replacement and fleet renewal planning, and negotiating with suppliers, workshops and contractors Handling customer requirements on vehicle and transport options and resolving service issues Maintaining registration, accreditation, maintenance and compliance records Qualification & experience What you need to have.

You will need most of the following to be considered: At least 1 year managing a commercial fleet of heavy and light vehicles in a transport or logistics operator Detailed, current knowledge of Chain of Responsibility and NHVAS accreditation (Mass, Maintenance and Fatigue Management) Experience running preventative maintenance managing a fleet budget to cost per kilometre Experience with a transport management system (TMS), fleet telematics and electronic work diaries Experience managing drivers, including rosters, licensing, medicals and fatigue Experience with fleet procurement, capital replacement planning and supplier and workshop negotiation Experience running mixed assets (vehicles plus hire equipment) across local and interstate work A current full Victorian driver licence.
