We maintain a large, modern fleet of heavy earthmoving equipment, and we’re looking for a reliable and Workshop Yard Person to join our growing team.
About the Role:
The Workshop Yard Person is responsible for maintaining the workshop and yard area in a clean, organized, and safe condition. This role supports workshop operations by assisting with the movement of vehicles, machinery, tools, and materials. Timely collection, delivery, and distribution of parts, tools, and materials is a vital part of this role, as well as performing general maintenance, tyre fitting and labouring duties.
This position is not available as FIFO.
Applicants must reside in the Northern Territory.
No relocation assistance is available.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain the workshop and yard areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
Collection, delivery and distribution of parts, tools, and materials
Assist mechanics, technicians, or trades staff with workshop duties as required
Tyre fitting – inspect, remove, fit, repair and rotate tyres on light and heavy vehicles, machinery and equipment
Load, unload, and move parts, equipment, and materials using forklift or other lifting equipment
Check, store, and issue tools, equipment, and consumables
Wash and detail vehicles, plant, or machinery before and after repairs or service
Conduct basic maintenance and housekeeping of workshop tools, equipment, and facilities
Wash and detail vehicles, plant, or machinery
Dispose of waste materials in accordance with company procedures
Check and maintain fuel, oil, and consumable stock levels
Adhere to company safety procedures and report hazards or incidents promptly
Requirements:
All candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, and a drug and alcohol screen.
Current drivers licence
Forklift licence preferred, or ability to obtain
Be physically fit and capable of manual handling and physical labour
Previous yard, workshop, labouring experience
Previous tyre fitting experience
Ability to tow trailers
Knowledge of local area
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication and teamwork skills
Always wear the required PPE
Comply with company WHS policies and procedures
Participate in toolbox talks and safety training
Working Conditions
Outdoor and indoor workshop environment
Exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and varying weather conditions
