WELDERS (First Class) and HEAVY METAL FABRICATORS

JS Welding Services Pty Ltd is a business based in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The company was established in 2010. JS Welding Services specialises in supplying, fabricating, and installing structural steel across a range of buildings including Schools, Warehouses, Industrial Sheds etc.

We have two separate positions for each of these roles:

1. Welder-(First Class)

2. Heavy Metal Fabricator

Welders at JS Welding Services will fabricate and repair metal products using various welding techniques whilst Metal Fabricators mark off and fabricate structural steel and other metal stock to create or repair structures and metal products.

Job responsibilities:

• Examine detailed drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements.

• Cut and shape metal components.

• Cut, roll, shape, bend, mold, spin, heat or hammer metal products to fabricate structural steel products.

• Assemble parts and structures by lining up and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting.

• Use welding equipment including Oxy-Acetylene welding and MIG weld.

• Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing or bathing them in acid solutions, or by applying protective coatings

• Heat treats metal parts and components.

• Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment and other types of equipment.

• Select, clean and prepare metal stock.

• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.

• Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.

• Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.

• Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiseling and grinding.

About the candidates

The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:

- AQF Certificate III in Engineering/Fabrication or equivalent, but not essential (preferred)

- At least 3 years’ work experience in a related field, such as a welder/metal fabricator/boilermaker is a mandatory requirement.

- Reliable with strong work ethics

- Have a high attention to detail and produce quality work

- Can read & interpret drawings, have good math skills

- Able to work harmoniously in a diverse team

- Follow workplace health & safety policies

- Can work well under pressure
