Accountant - A&L Romeo Pty Ltd

A & L Romeo Pty Ltd is one of Australia’s largest privately owned table grape producers. A & L Romeo Pty Ltd has operations across Victoria and Queensland. The business is seeking a full-time General Accountant to join our administration team based in Robinvale, Victoria.

Salary offered is $79,423 plus super.

The Accountant will be responsible for:

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.

• Maintaining the general ledger and preparing and processing journal entries and accounting adjustments.

• Performing month-end and year-end closing procedures, including accruals, prepayments and account adjustments.

• Reconciling balance sheet, general ledger and bank accounts and investigating discrepancies.

• Analysing financial results, revenue, expenditure and operating costs (including production, labour, packing and other operational costs) and preparing variance reports for management.

• Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections, taking into account seasonal production cycles, and monitoring performance against budgets.

• Assisting in the preparation and review of taxation reports and ensuring accounting records comply with relevant taxation and statutory requirements.

• Implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and accounting procedures and assisting with internal and external audits.

• Providing financial information and advice to management as requested.

• Liaising with auditors, financial institutions, banks and other financial service providers as needed.

Required Qualification and Experience:

• At least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, economics or a related field.

• At least 1 year of full-time work experience in management accounting, budget analysis and/or financial analysis, particularly in the agriculture industry or an industrial setting.

Ideal Skills and Attributes:

• Strong commercial acumen and critical analysis skills.

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
