The purpose of this position is to provide clients with high-quality, person-centred support that meets individual needs and promotes independence, capacity building, community participation, and overall quality of life. Support is delivered in line with each client’s goals, preferences, and aspirations.

Support Workers are required to demonstrate the following competencies and experience:

• Ability to walk, bend, push, pull, and lift repeatedly throughout the working day, including during personal and clinical care activities.

• Competence in safely handling equipment and machinery used to transfer or support clients, including the application of safe manual handling techniques for complex personal care.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement.

• Self-motivated, with the ability to identify, prioritise, and complete required support and care tasks as directed, without direct supervision.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, particularly in relation to personal care, clinical observations, and reporting against care plan requirements.

• Ability to complete documentation in a timely, clear, and concise manner, including progress notes and records relating to personal care.

• Knowledge of and ability to follow Work Health and Safety, infection prevention and control, and injury management policies and procedures, taking all reasonable care for the safety and wellbeing of oneself, clients, and others.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small tea.

• Flexibility to support a diverse client base across various community settings, times, and service types.

• Ability to work within a consumer-directed care model, while adhering to care plan instructions, to promote client safety, independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Duties include personal care, respite, social support, domestic cleaning, companionship, medication prompting, meal preparation, community access and transport to appointments.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

• Valid Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle

• NDIS Workers Screening Check

• Working with Children Check

• First Aid & CPR certificate

Desirable - Employees may have:

• Certificate III or IV level qualifications appropriate to the work performed; and/or

• Another appropriate qualification; and/or

• Relevant work experience to the work performed
