The Client

Melbourne Earthescapes Pty Ltd is a family-owned earthmoving, landscaping, and construction business based in Ravenhall, VIC, delivering landscaping, retaining wall construction, rockwork, stone installation, and transportation services across Melbourne and surrounding regions.

They are seeking an experienced Stonemason to join their team in Ravenhall, VIC.

The Role

The Stonemason is responsible for constructing, repairing, and installing stone structures, retaining walls, masonry features, and related stonework in accordance with project specifications and construction requirements.

This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation.

The Responsibilities

Cut and shape hard and soft stone blocks and masonry slabs to construct and renovate stone structures, kitchen benchtops, and monumental masonry

Lay pre-cut stones and masonry blocks in mortar to construct and repair walls, partitions, arches, and structural stone features

Study plans and specifications to determine material requirements, dimensions, and installation procedures

Erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding in accordance with workplace safety procedures

Seal foundations with damp-resistant materials and apply mortar layers to support masonry installation works

Lay stones in rows, designs, and patterns while maintaining structural alignment and finish quality

Embed stone blocks in mortar and remove excess material to achieve clean and accurate finishes

Check vertical and horizontal alignment of stone structures using levelling and measuring equipment

Cut, shape, polish, and finish stone materials using hand tools, polishing equipment, and masonry machinery

Repair and maintain stone, brick, and masonry structures in accordance with construction requirements

Design, cut, and install monumental masonry and stone lettering works

Construct retaining walls, stone facades, and structural masonry installations for residential and commercial projects Choose and prepare appropriate metal materials for fabrication

The Requirements

Certificate III in Stonemasonry, Bricklaying, Construction, or equivalent trade qualification

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Stonemason within construction, landscaping, or masonry environments

Minimum 5 years’ experience interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and construction measurements for masonry works

At least 5 years’ experience constructing retaining walls, stone structures, and masonry installations across residential or commercial projects

At least 5 years’ experience operating masonry tools, polishing equipment, cutting machinery, and stone fabrication tools

At least 5 years’ experience constructing stone retaining walls, rock walls, garden walls, paving, steps and outdoor stone features

Minimum 5 years’ experience using stone cutting, grinding, drilling, shaping and finishing tools in a construction or landscaping environment

Strong knowledge of masonry construction methods, mortar application, and stone finishing techniques

Ability to read and interpret technical plans, site measurements, and installation specifications accurately

Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures, scaffolding requirements, and construction compliance standards

White Card required

Excavator and Skid Steer licences preferred

Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and across varying construction site environments

Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or within construction teams

High attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality
