Personal Care Assistant

Value Care Pty Ltd is seeking a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our care team in South Australia. The successful candidate will provide high-quality personal care and support to clients in residential and/or home-based care environments.

The role involves assisting clients with their personal care, mobility, daily activities and wellbeing while maintaining their dignity, privacy, independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

Provide routine personal care and support to clients in their home or care environment.

Assist clients with personal hygiene, showering, bathing, grooming and dressing.

Assist clients with eating, drinking and other daily personal activities as required.

Support clients with mobility, transfers and positioning in accordance with care plans and safe work practices.

Assist clients with communication and encourage participation in daily activities.

Participate in the development and implementation of individual care plans as required.

Follow individual care and therapy plans and provide support in accordance with instructions from relevant health professionals.

Support clients experiencing dementia, behavioural difficulties or other care needs in accordance with their individual plans.

Assist with appropriate rehabilitation exercises and activities as directed by health professionals.

Assist with basic treatment and care activities within the scope of the position and relevant workplace procedures.

Observe clients and promptly report changes in their physical, emotional or behavioural condition.

Report any concerns, incidents or complaints relating to client care to the appropriate supervisor.

Provide emotional support, companionship and encouragement to clients.

Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for clients.

Assist with meals and other routine daily activities where required.

Maintain accurate and timely client care records and documentation.

Follow infection control, workplace health and safety and manual handling procedures.

Respect each client's privacy, dignity, cultural preferences and individual choices.

Work collaboratively with nurses, allied health professionals, families and other members of the care team.

Essential Skills and Requirements

Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) or another relevant aged care/disability care qualification.

Relevant experience in personal care, aged care, disability support, community care or a related field will be highly regarded.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Compassionate, patient and respectful approach to client care.

Ability to assist clients with personal care and mobility requirements.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary care team.

Understanding of person-centred care and the importance of maintaining client dignity and independence.

Current First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.

Police Check and relevant screening/clearances as required for the position.
