Retail Manager

Pizza Hut is one of the world’s best known pizza brands, founded in the United States in 1958 and now trading from thousands of restaurants across more than one hundred countries. It has been part of the Australian eating out landscape since 1970 and is recognised for its Original Pan pizza, its stuffed crust range, wings, sides and desserts, and for the value bundles and weekly offers customers expect from the brand. Our store trades under that banner in Werribee, in Melbourne’s outer south west, within the City of Wyndham and one of the fastest growing municipalities in the country. We serve a busy, largely family based customer base across dine in, takeaway, telephone, app and delivery orders, and the store runs at pace through weeknight dinners, weekends and school holidays, where consistent product, accurate orders and quick delivery times are what bring people back to us. We are now looking for a capable, hands on Retail Manager to take charge of daily operations and help drive the store’s next stage of growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Take day to day charge of the Werribee store, leading the kitchen and service team through weeknight dinners, weekend peaks and holiday trade so that orders leave the store hot, accurate and on time.

• Recruit, induct, roster and supervise cooks, pizza makers, customer service staff and delivery drivers, setting clear expectations and developing a dependable team that holds its standards on the busiest nights.

• Decide what the store carries and in what quantity, from dough, cheese and toppings through to sides, drinks and packaging, setting par levels against forecast demand and defining the service standards the team works to.

• Coordinate supplier deliveries, check quantity and quality on arrival, and enforce stock rotation and correct storage so that product is used in date and wastage stays low.

• Serve customers at the counter and over the phone, take them through the menu and current deals, explain ingredients, allergens and dietary options, and recommend the sizes and combinations that best suit their order.

• Run the delivery side of the business, planning driver coverage against expected order volumes, monitoring delivery times and dispatch sequencing, and keeping driver and vehicle safety requirements front of mind.

• Keep accurate records of stock on hand, incoming deliveries, wastage, daily takings, banking and supplier invoices, and reconcile sales at the close of each trading day.

• Build local awareness of the store through in store promotions, letterbox and community activity, local partnerships and offers aimed at nearby schools, workplaces and sporting groups, alongside Pizza Hut national campaigns and online offers.

• Manage the online and third party ordering channels, including the Pizza Hut app and website and the delivery aggregator platforms, keeping menus, offers and availability current and acting on what customer ratings tell us.

• Set and apply the store purchasing procedures for food, beverages, packaging and consumables, place and manage supplier orders, and apply menu and promotional pricing within the brand framework and the store cost position.

• Handle customer complaints, order errors and refunds personally where the situation calls for it, resolving them quickly and courteously to protect the store reputation and its repeat trade.

• Prepare and manage the store operating budget, track food, labour and delivery costs against sales week by week, and act on the variances that move store profitability.

• Review daily and weekly sales, order counts and product mix, and use what those numbers show to sharpen ordering, rostering and promotional decisions.

• Uphold food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety obligations under Australian regulations and brand standards, covering temperature control, allergen handling, safe use of ovens and cutting equipment, cleaning schedules and incident reporting.

• Oversee opening and closing routines, cash handling, float management, safe reconciliation and end of day banking.

• Brief and train the team ahead of new menu items, limited time offers and promotional mechanics so the store is ready to trade them from launch day.

• Keep the premises, service area and equipment presented and maintained to brand standard, arranging preventative servicing and repairs for ovens, preparation benches, refrigeration and point of sale hardware.

• Prepare the store for brand quality, food safety and compliance audits, and follow through on any findings so that standards hold between visits.

Skills and Experience

• At least 1 year of relevant experience in a retail, quick service restaurant or hospitality management role.

• An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma.

Hours and Salary

Hours: 38 hours per week, full-time.

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum.
