Restaurant manager

We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our busy hospitality venue.

This is a hands-on management position requiring strong leadership, organisation and customer-service skills. The successful applicant will oversee restaurant operations, staff, service standards, stock control and administrative duties while working closely with the business owners and kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for:

* Managing the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and ensuring smooth, efficient service.

* Leading, supervising and coordinating front-of-house employees.

* Recruiting, training, rostering and supporting restaurant staff.

* Allocating staff duties and monitoring employee performance.

* Ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained in line with expected trade.

* Managing opening and closing procedures.

* Maintaining high standards of customer service and responding professionally to customer feedback and complaints.

* Coordinating front-of-house operations with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient food and beverage service.

* Monitoring the quality and consistency of service provided to customers.

* Managing bookings, functions and special events where required.

* Monitoring stock levels and ordering beverages, packaging, cleaning products and other restaurant supplies.

* Liaising and negotiating with suppliers and monitoring deliveries.

* Assisting with menu planning, pricing and implementation of new products or promotions.

* Monitoring operating costs, labour costs, sales and other restaurant performance indicators.

* Managing cash handling, POS procedures and end-of-day reconciliation.

* Ensuring the restaurant is presented to a high standard and that dining, service and customer areas are clean and properly maintained.

* Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety and liquor-licensing requirements.

* Maintaining restaurant records, staff documentation and operational procedures.

* Helping develop and implement systems to improve efficiency, customer experience and profitability.

* Reporting operational issues and restaurant performance to the business owners.

* Taking responsibility for the restaurant during service and resolving operational problems as they arise.

About You

The successful applicant will ideally have:

* Previous restaurant or hospitality management experience.

* Strong leadership and staff-management skills.

* Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

* Experience with staff rostering and labour management.

* Good understanding of food and beverage operations.

* Experience with stock control, ordering and supplier management.

* Ability to work calmly and effectively during busy restaurant services.

* Good organisational and problem-solving skills.

* Understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.

* Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

* Relevant hospitality or management qualifications are desirable but practical restaurant-management experience is highly regarded.
