Electrical Engineering Draftsperson

About the Role

MECS Group Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Draftsperson to join our team in Perth, Western Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed drawings, plans, and technical schematics of electrical installations, circuitry, and distribution systems in support of our engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed technical drawings, single-line diagrams, and motor control cabinet designs and layouts.

Read, interpret, and review engineering design specifications, blueprints, and technical data.

Perform technical calculations such as maximum demand and heat load.

Estimate material quantities, costs, and project requirements.

Modify, update, and maintain existing electrical design drawings and documentation.

Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions, design files, and engineering documentation.

Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and onsite trades personnel.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

Relevant experience working as an Electrical Engineering Draftsperson.

Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation.

Demonstrated knowledge of electrical design, layout, circuitry, and drafting principles.

Ability to interpret complex engineering specifications and single-line diagrams.

Strong understanding of electrical safety requirements and relevant Australian standards, such as AS/NZS 61439 and AS/NZS 3000.

Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Relevant Australian registration or licensing, or eligibility to obtain registration where applicable.

Qualifications

Relevant qualification in electrical engineering drafting, such as an Australian Diploma, Advanced Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2), or equivalent qualification.

Equivalent relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years, may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Full-time permanent employment.

Salary of AUD $90,000 - $110,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on experience and qualifications.
