REGISTERED NURSE (RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE)

Mt Kooyong Nursing home About the Role You will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care to elderly residents with complex clinical needs in a supportive team environment. Key Duties Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments (physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and functional) Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in line with clinical standards and best practice Develop and review person-centred care plans in collaborations with residents, families, and the multidisciplinary team Administer medication and therapeutic treatments, monitoring outcomes Provide clinical care including wound, catheter and stoma management Recognise and respond to clinical deterioration and emergencies Collaborate with medical practitioners, allied health professionals, and care staff Supervise, support, and delegate to Enrolled Nurses and Personal Care Assistants Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation Educate and support residents and families regarding care and treatment Promote health, wellbeing, and preventative care practices Requirements Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification Current registration with AHPRA Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and communication skills Demonstrated leadership with confidence to delegate, supervise, and supports, and support ENs and PCAs Ability to work effectively withing a multidisciplinary team Commitment to person-centred care and continuous improvement Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement) Minimum 1–2-year post-registration experience (aged care desirable) Work rights in Australia About Company Mt Kooyong Nursing Home, located in Julatten on the Atherton Tablelands, is a privately owned and operated facility with 40 care beds in total.

Mt Kooyong offers complete residential nursing care (both permanent and respite). Julatten is a quiet and restful part of the world, providing residents with a peaceful haven in tropical rainforest surrounds. Located on the northern end of the scenic Atherton Tablelands, Julatten is home to approximately 1,600 permanent residents and is around a 1.5-2-hour drive from Cairns.

With a focus on providing professional care and compassion, Mt Kooyong Nursing Home has registered nurses on site 7 days a week and staff always on hand to assist with resident needs. In addition, there are medical and allied health care specialists who visit for the exclusive use and benefit of residents. At Mt Kooyong we know it’s not an easy decision to move yourself and/or parent or dependent into a care facility.

It is a challenging and emotional time full of uncertainty. We work with our residents and their families and carers to make the transition as smooth as possible. Our caring, professional staff assist residents with day-to-day tasks, including cleaning and laundry, personal care (dressing, grooming and toiletries) and provide 24-hour nursing care.
