Civil Construction Traineeship

Programmed has an exciting opportunity in the Winton region QLD for a Civil Construction Traineeship , specialising in Road Construction and Maintenance .

Throughout the traineeship you will be hosted with a major Civil Construction company, RoadTek whom provide excellent mentoring, training and encourages teamwork and innovation within their business. RoadTek provides transport infrastructure solutions throughout Queensland as a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

Whilst engaged as a civil construction trainee you will be required to work outdoors and at times in a challenging environment being hot, dirty and dusty. Shifts may include rotating day/night shift on a roster basis. Working in Civil construction can be a physically demanding industry so it is essential you can meet these requirements before applying for this position. Excellent above award pay rate with potentially overtime penalty rates.

Learn to Construct and Rehabilitate Roads and Road Furniture

Plan and organise work

Carry out measurements and calculations

Read, interpret plans & specifications

Communicate in the workplace

Use hand and power tools

Control the work methods to ensure that construction work is carried out in an efficient and compliant manner

Comply with safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment and to ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation

Ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to complete a Nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Civil Construction - Structures or Road Construction Maintenance RII30920

Mandatory Requirements

Construction White Card (can be completed online before commencing - it's a short safety course)

Current Drivers Licence and reliable transport

Flexible to work a roster of days and night works

Flexible to work away on a roster/rotation of 10 days on, 4 days off

Strong commitment to complete Certificate III in Civil Construction RII30920

Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative

Other Requirements

Passion for 'hands on work' and a genuine desire to work in civil construction

General labouring experience an advantage

Motivated and willing to learn with a positive self-starter attitude

Competent numeracy & literacy skills with Year 10 High school certificate

Proven experience working within a team environment

Commitment to complete theory/written and practical components of the qualification

Able to work away from home (travel and accommodation provided)

Location: Applicants must live in the Winton QLD region to be considered for this opportunity.

Prior to an offer of employment, a pre-employment medical examination 'fit for work' (including passing a drug and alcohol screen) is required.
