TÁVOLA Restaurant is seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team in Bentleigh, Victoria.

Hours: 38 hours per week

Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the role

The successful candidate will work as part of our kitchen team, preparing and cooking high-quality Italian food while maintaining TÁVOLA’s standards of consistency, presentation, food safety and service.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards

• Examining ingredients and food products to ensure quality and freshness

• Organising mise en place and managing an allocated kitchen section during service

• Operating and regulating ovens, grills and other commercial cooking equipment

• Portioning, plating and garnishing dishes consistently

• Preparing dishes for guests with allergies or special dietary requirements

• Maintaining correct food storage, stock rotation and temperature-control procedures

• Complying with all food-safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements

• Assisting with menu planning and estimating food requirements

• Monitoring portions, stock levels and food waste

• Supporting and training junior kitchen staff when required

• Working collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams

Requirements

• A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent professional experience

• At least one year of relevant experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen

• Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations

• Experience with Italian cuisine is highly regarded

• Strong attention to quality, presentation and consistency

• Good organisational, communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment

• Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
