We are seeking a skilled and experienced Web Developer to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting websites and web applications using web programming languages, software applications, technologies, and databases.

This role is suited to a technically capable Web Developer with at least three years of relevant experience and a minimum Bachelor-level qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Position Summary

The Web Developer will be responsible for analysing client and business requirements, designing and developing websites and web applications, building front-end and back-end functionality, maintaining WordPress and WooCommerce environments, developing PHP modules, integrating databases, testing applications, troubleshooting issues, and supporting ongoing website performance, security, updates, and functionality.

The role involves working closely with internal team members, designers, digital marketing staff, operational groups, and other ICT professionals to deliver reliable, responsive, user-friendly, and technically sound web solutions.

Key Tasks and Duties

The Web Developer will be responsible for:

Analysing, designing, developing, testing, and maintaining websites and web applications in accordance with client, business, and system requirements.

Writing program code, back-end code, and efficient PHP modules to meet system specifications and ensure websites and web applications perform as required.

Developing new website functionality and enhancing existing systems by collaborating with team members, designers, and operational groups to identify and prioritise required development work.

Designing and developing websites using HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, Bootstrap, Foundation, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, PHP, Node.js, WordPress, WooCommerce, and related web technologies.

Converting wireframes, Figma designs, Adobe design files, and approved design concepts into functional, responsive, browser-compatible web pages and applications.

Developing responsive website layouts and conducting cross-browser compatibility testing across desktop, tablet, and mobile environments.

Building, customising, and maintaining WordPress themes, WooCommerce functionality, plugins, templates, and back-end features.

Integrating front-end designs with back-end systems, databases, image files, scripting languages, third-party tools, and other specialised web inputs.

Performing analysis of website, eCommerce, and web application requirements, including technical feasibility, user requirements, and functional specifications.

Testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving website and web application issues to ensure functionality, performance, usability, and technical compliance.

Performing post-deployment activities, including bug fixing, maintenance, version updates, backups, support, testing of new functionality, reporting, and preparation of feedback documentation.

Developing scripts, using build tools such as webpack, and documenting module processes, technical specifications, and development standards.

Working with MySQL databases, CSS pre-processors, content management systems, web hosting environments, and related web development tools.

Communicating with relevant internal or external technical stakeholders regarding website hosting, performance, security, backups, access, system updates, and ongoing website support.

Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, development notes, system specifications, and user-facing documentation in line with business standards.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have:

At least three years of experience in a highly relevant Web Developer, Web Programmer, Software Engineer, or similar web development role.

A relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a closely related field.

Strong competency in WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and Node.js.

Strong experience with responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, website performance, debugging, and technical troubleshooting.

Demonstrated ability to develop, customise, and maintain WordPress themes, WooCommerce functionality, plugins, templates, and back-end features.

Experience converting Figma, Adobe design files, wireframes, and design mock-ups into functional web pages and applications.

Working knowledge of Adobe design software, Figma, Bootstrap, Foundation, webpack, CSS pre-processors, and modern front-end development workflows.

Strong understanding of website and eCommerce application requirements, technical specifications, user needs, and web-based development methodologies.

Ability to document technical specifications, module processes, system updates, and development work in accordance with business standards.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to test, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical website and web application issues.

A professional approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities while meeting established deadlines.
