Seaside Café & Restaurant is a well-established dining venue in Castletown, Esperance, known for fresh, locally-sourced seafood and coastal-inspired cuisine. We are seeking an experienced, passionate Chef to join our kitchen team and help deliver high-quality food and dining experiences to our local and visiting customers.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled, full-time Chef to plan and prepare menus, cook and present dishes, and oversee kitchen operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in food quality, consistency, and kitchen management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Planning menus in consultation with management, taking into account customer preferences, local produce availability, and dietary requirements

- Estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies

- Discussing food preparation with kitchen and waitstaff to ensure high standards

- Preparing, seasoning and cooking food, including seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes

- Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

- Overseeing kitchen operations, rostering and coordinating activities of kitchen staff

- Maintaining food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards in line with regulatory requirements

- Training and supervising kitchen staff, including apprentices and junior cooks

- Maintaining kitchen equipment and ensuring proper storage of food supplies

Selection Criteria:

- Trade qualification as a Chef (Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery) or equivalent relevant experience

- Minimum 1-2 years' relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment

- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards

- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment, including weekends and public holidays as required

Remuneration

$79,499 – $85,000 per annum (pro rata not applicable - full-time), plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
