Crop Farm Workers/ General Farm work

Hillwood Farm Services Pty Ltd requires Farm Hands to commence from September 2026 for casual employment.

Work will be based at 722 Brookman Road, Kuitpo SA. Employees may also be required to work at other farm sites within a 50-kilometre radius of this location as operational requirements dictate.

The primary duties of this role involve berry picking and packing. Employees may also be required to undertake a range of general farm duties including:

Polytunnel construction, maintenance and repair, including installing and removing tunnel skins and roping.

Distribution of grow bags.

Irrigation installation, maintenance and repairs.

Fencing and general farm maintenance.

Pruning, trellising and crop maintenance activities.

Cleaning and preparation of work areas and equipment.

Employment is under the Hillwood Farm Services Enterprise Agreement 2026. Employees will generally commence at Level 1 and may progress to Level 2 based on skills, experience, performance and operational requirements.

Current hourly rates are:

Level 1 – $25.75 per hour

Level 2 – $26.45 per hour

Harvest activities such as picking and packing may be performed under a Piecework Agreement. Piecework rates and arrangements will be in line with the Hillwood Farm Services Enterprise Agreement 2026 and applicable workplace relations legislation. Piecework rates are designed to enable competent workers to earn at least the minimum applicable rate while meeting the required quality and productivity standards established by Hillwood Farm Services.

Additional allowances may apply for employees undertaking responsibilities such as First Aid Officer or Leading Hand duties in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement. Opportunities for upskilling and advancement may be available based on skills, performance and operational requirements.

As this is a casual position, hours of work may vary depending on seasonal conditions, weather, crop requirements and operational needs. Typical hours may be between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, with work potentially required across up to six days per week. Weekend work may be required during peak production and harvest periods.

Work is performed outdoors and can involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including cold and windy mornings and hot afternoons. The role is physically demanding and requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying and repetitive manual tasks.
