Australian Fishing Enterprises Key Responsibilities Plan, control and coordinate the operational and maintenance requirements of ship propulsion systems, plant and equipment. Operate, monitor and maintain ship plant, machinery and engineering systems. Perform routine, preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Monitor and maintain propulsion machinery, power generation equipment, pumps, refrigeration and other auxiliary systems. Diagnose machinery faults, equipment failures and defects and undertake or coordinate necessary repairs. Inspect machinery and equipment to identify maintenance and repair requirements.
Monitor the condition and performance of shipboard plant and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Maintain accurate engineering, operational and maintenance records. Monitor engineering supplies, spare parts, fuel, lubricants and other operational requirements.
Ensure engineering operations comply with applicable maritime safety and environmental requirements. Work closely with the Ship’s Master and vessel crew to support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Applicants should have: Relevant marine engineering qualifications appropriate to the position.
Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 (MED 2) certification or other appropriate marine engineering certification or license applicable to the vessel and position. Relevant practical experience in the operation and maintenance of ship plant, machinery and equipment. Demonstrated experience with marine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and associated engineering systems.
Experience diagnosing machinery faults and undertaking maintenance and repairs. Sound knowledge of preventative and scheduled vessel maintenance requirements. Knowledge of applicable marine safety and environmental requirements.
Strong technical problem-solving skills. Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a vessel crew. Selection Criteria Relevant marine engineering qualifications appropriate to the position.
