Formwork Carpenter – Full Time

Cogitare Limited As a Formwork Carpenter, you will work across a variety of construction projects throughout Greater Sydney and various NSW locations, undertaking the construction, installation, maintenance and removal of formwork systems used in concrete structures. The position is hands-on and requires an experienced carpenter who can accurately interpret plans and specifications and perform formwork activities safely, efficiently and to the required construction standards.

Benefits NRC Reinforcement offers a full-time position with a base salary within the range of $88,000 - $98,000 per annum plus superannuation (+ Overtime opportunities), together with the opportunity to work across a range of commercial, industrial and civil construction projects throughout Greater Sydney and NSW. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Formwork Carpenter seeking stable, ongoing employment with a specialist contractor operating across the structural concrete sector.

Task & responsibilities Your duties will include: • Reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings and specifications to determine formwork requirements. • Setting out, measuring and marking materials and work areas in accordance with plans and project specifications. • Constructing, assembling and installing timber, plywood and proprietary formwork systems for concrete structures. • Building formwork for structural elements including slabs, walls, columns, beams, footings and other concrete components. • Cutting, shaping and assembling timber and other materials using hand and power tools. • Erecting, bracing, securing and aligning formwork to ensure correct dimensions, levels and structural stability. • Installing formwork components and ensuring structures are appropriately positioned prior to concrete placement. • Checking completed formwork for accuracy against plans, specifications, levels and tolerances. • Stripping and dismantling formwork following concrete curing while minimising damage to reusable materials. • Cleaning, maintaining and preparing formwork materials and equipment for reuse. • Working collaboratively with steel fixers, concreters, supervisors and other construction personnel to coordinate structural concrete works. • Identifying and reporting defects, construction issues or discrepancies to site supervisors. • Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition. • Following site-specific Safe Work Method Statements, workplace health and safety procedures and company policies. • Performing work across NRC projects throughout the Greater Sydney area as required.

Qualification & experience To be successful in this position, you will ideally have: • A relevant carpentry qualification, such as Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent. • Previous experience (min 1 year, ideally 3 years+) working as a Formwork Carpenter or Carpenter within the construction industry. • Practical experience constructing formwork for concrete structures. • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications. • Strong measuring, setting-out and general carpentry skills. • Experience using carpentry hand tools, power tools and construction equipment. • Good understanding of construction site safety requirements. • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a construction team. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. • A valid White Card.
