About the Role

Join our team as an Environmental Services Assistant on a part time basis to work at Monash Medical Centre based in Clayton. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the General Services Manager and working with the broader Support Services team.

ESAs are responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe hospital environment; not only for patients, but also for visitors and colleagues across Monash Health. ESAs deliver high-quality environmental services across clinical and non-clinical areas.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Ensuring adherence to infection prevention and control protocols at all times

Adhering to safety protocols when using cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with safety guidelines

Managing waste removal and disposal procedures safely and responsibly

Maintaining cleaning schedules and documentation

Reporting maintenance or safety hazards promptly

Collaborating with clinical and support teams to deliver service excellence

Completing relevant workplace training modules

Distribution and collection of linen

Physical work including lifting and manual handling

We currently have the following opportunities available:

Position 1: Floater - General Cleaning, all areas

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 06:30 - 13:30

Total hours per fortnight: 65

Position 2: Emergency Department

Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Hours: 23:30 - 07:00

Total hours per fortnight: 48

Position 3: Emergency Department

Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Hours: 06:30 - 15:00

Total hours per fortnight: 48

Position 4: Cleaning, waste and linen removal - various areas

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours:06:30 - 13:30

Total hours per fortnight: 65

Position 5: Office & Pharmacy Compounding Suite

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 1400 - 2130 (will change to 16:00 - 23:30 on date TBA)

Total hours per fortnight: 70

Position 6: Adult Mental Health Unit - Common areas & courtyards

Days: Monday - Thursday

Hours: 10:30 - 17:00

Total hours per fortnight: 48

Position 7: Adult Mental Health Unit - Common areas & courtyards

Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Hours: 10:30 - 17:00

Total hours per fortnight: 36

Position 8: CSSD & floor cleaning

Hours: Tuesday - Friday 06:30 - 13:00

Saturday 06:30 - 15:00

Total hours per fortnight: 64

About You

To ensure your success in this role, you will bring experience in environmental services within a hospital, Aged Care or commercial cleaning setting with strong demonstrated knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices. You are a reliable and punctual team member with great verbal and written communication skills. Whether you're work independently or as part of a team; you always follow manual handling, safety protocols, and procedural instructions.

About Monash Medical Centre:

Monash Medical Centre in Clayton is a major teaching and research hospital offering comprehensive specialist services, including surgery, medicine, mental health, and palliative care. An expansion is underway to construct a seven-storey tower that will increase surgical capacity, enhance maternity services, and support the growing healthcare needs of Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs.
