Metal Fabricator / Welder (Stainless Steel)

Job description

ACT Stainless Steel has progressed to become the largest manufacturer of specialized stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium & brass products in the Canberra area, through expert design, coordination & quality of workmanship, endearing itself to both local & interstate builders, architects, clubs & foodservice consultants as a result. We are looking for experienced stainless steel fabricators or welders to expand our skilled workforce, to fill full time, permanent positions.

Range Salady: $78,000 - $88,000

The Position

The Metal Fabricator or Welder will perform the following duties:

- study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements

- select metal stock, such as stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper and mild steel.

- cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, plasma cutting torches and metal cutting machines such as guillotines

- shaping and forming cut metal stock into products using brake presses, folders, rollers

- assemble and weld components together using TIG welding

- polish and buff finished products to the required surface finish

- install commercial kitchen equipment and other products of the company

Skills and Experience

The successful applicants will have the following

- AQF Certificate III Fabrication Trade or equivalent or relevant experience

- Specialised experience in TIG welding and polishing of stainless steel, aluminium, brass and specialty alloys an advantage

- Experience in the fabrication of commercial kitchen equipment is an advantage

- Minimum 3 year’s related experience
