Core Responsibilities:
• Lead cross-team collaboration between software development, operations, security, and infrastructure groups to streamline workflows and improve delivery efficiency.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, repeatable, and high-velocity software releases.
• Develop and manage cloud-based infrastructure solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability across environments.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices to standardise environment provisioning and reduce manual configuration.
• Monitor system performance, reliability, and security using modern observability tools, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Drive integration of tools, platforms, and processes across specialist IT teams to reduce friction and improve end-to-end delivery.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering leads to align automation, cloud, and integration strategies with organisational goals.
• Establish and enforce best practices for version control, branching strategies, deployment standards, and environment management.
• Support incident response and root-cause analysis by providing deep insights into deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automated systems.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance workflow efficiency, system resilience, and team productivity.
Cloud Engineering Focus (Specialisation)
• Build and maintain cloud-native architectures using AWS/Azure/GCP services.
• Optimise cloud resource utilisation and cost efficiency through automation and monitoring.
• Implement secure cloud networking, identity management, and access controls.
Continuous Integration Focus (Specialisation)
• Develop robust CI frameworks enabling automated testing, static analysis, security scanning, and artifact management.
• Integrate CI systems with development workflows to ensure rapid feedback and consistent build quality.
• Maintain CI tooling and troubleshoot build failures, dependency issues, and pipeline bottlenecks.
Collaboration & Communication
• Act as a technical liaison between development, operations, and security teams to ensure alignment on delivery objectives.
• Document processes, standards, and automation workflows to support knowledge sharing across the organisation.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering teams on DevOps practices, cloud adoption, and automation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration & Integration:
• Facilitate communication and coordination between software development, operations, cloud, and security teams to streamline workflows and reduce delivery bottlenecks.
• Integrate tools, systems, and processes across specialist IT teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end delivery.
• Act as a technical liaison to align automation, cloud, and deployment strategies with organisational objectives.
Automation & CI/CD:
• Design, build, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines supporting reliable and repeatable software deployments.
• Implement automated testing, security scanning, artifact management, and release orchestration.
• Troubleshoot pipeline issues, optimise build processes, and ensure high-velocity delivery standards.
Cloud Engineering:
• Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure using AWS/Azure/GCP services.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions to standardise environment provisioning and reduce manual configuration.
• Ensure cloud environments meet organisational requirements for scalability, performance, cost efficiency, and security.
Monitoring, Reliability & Incident Support:
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and observability systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for incidents related to deployments, infrastructure, and automated systems.
• Develop reliability improvements and preventative automation to reduce operational overhead.
Governance, Standards & Best Practices:
• Establish and enforce best practices for version control, branching strategies, deployment standards, and environment management.
• Maintain documentation for automation workflows, cloud architectures, and operational processes.
• Mentor engineering teams on DevOps methodologies, cloud adoption, and automation principles.
Required Skills & Experience (Essential):
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent (Skill Level 1 requirement).
• Extensive experience in DevOps engineering, cloud engineering, or CI/CD automation roles.
• Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, Pulumi).
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch).
• Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and lead technical initiatives.
• Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and cloud governance.
Desirable Skills (Highly Advantageous):
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and automated security controls.
• Experience with cost optimisation and cloud financial management.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices.
• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes CKA/CKAD.
