Carpenter

Placed.au is looking for a full-time Carpenter for our client in St Helena, Victoria. This role is responsible for carrying out carpentry and construction work, including interpreting drawings, preparing and assembling materials, erecting structural frameworks, installing cladding and fittings, and completing repairs and construction work to project requirements.

Job Description

• Study drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions, and installation procedures.

• Order and select timbers and materials and prepare layouts according to project requirements.

• Cut materials and assemble and nail cut and shaped parts to form structural components.

• Erect framework, panelised systems and roof framing, lay sub-flooring and floorboards, and verify the alignment and trueness of structures.

• Nail fascia panels, sheath roofs, and fit exterior wall cladding as well as door and window frames.

• Assemble prepared wood and construction materials to form structures and fittings ready for installation.

• Cut wood joints and shape components to ensure proper fit and structural integrity.

• Construct concrete formwork where required for building projects.

• Repair existing fittings, frameworks, or structural components as required.

• Work with a variety of construction materials including timber, plastic laminates, Perspex, and metals.

Qualifications / Attributes

• Must hold a Certificate III in Carpentry or a relevant trade qualification, or at least three (3) years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

• Must possess at least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a Carpenter or in a similar carpentry role.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.

• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, structural frameworks, cladding, roofing, flooring, and construction materials.

• Ability to accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install timber and other construction materials.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a construction environment.

• Good problem-solving skills and ability to complete repairs and construction tasks according to project requirements.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a construction team.

Salary Range

$75,000 – $100,000 per annum excluding superannuation.
