Ideal Technologies is looking for a motivated Telecommunications Apprentice to join our Newcastle-based team for an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity to build a career in the telecommunications and commercial technology industry while completing a nationally recognised ICT30524 Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology.

About the Apprenticeship

As a Telecommunications Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians and gain practical, hands-on experience across a broad range of telecommunications and technology systems.

Your apprenticeship will include experience in areas such as:

Installing and terminating copper data cabling

Installing and working with optical fibre

Testing and fault-finding telecommunications cabling

Installing CCTV and security systems

Access control and intercom installations

Commercial technology infrastructure

Reading plans and following installation requirements

Using hand and power tools

Working safely on commercial construction and fit-out projects

Your Training

You will complete the ICT30524 Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology through JB Hunter in Newcastle.

Training will be undertaken locally using a block-release format, meaning you will attend JB Hunter for scheduled training blocks while gaining practical experience with Ideal Technologies in the workplace.

The qualification covers key telecommunications skills including copper, optical fibre and coaxial cabling, as well as training associated with Open Cabler Registration and Structured Cabling, Optical Fibre and Coaxial Cabling endorsements.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this apprenticeship, applicants must have:

A current Construction Industry White Card

A current driver’s licence

Their own reliable vehicle and transport to and from work and job sites

These requirements are essential. Our work is carried out across different commercial sites throughout Newcastle, the Hunter and surrounding areas, often with varying start times and locations. You must be able to reliably make your own way to work and to assigned job sites each day.
