Primary Products Inspection Officer

Our Client J.K TIWANA & M.S TIWANA are currently seeking diligent and detail-oriented Primary Products Inspector to ensure that all agricultural and food products meet established quality, safety, and compliance standards. The ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of primary production processes and demonstrate a firm commitment to upholding rigorous inspection protocols. Core responsibilities include assessing products for defects or contamination, verifying adherence to industry and regulatory requirements, and preparing accurate, comprehensive inspection reports.

Job Responsibility:

• Inspect agricultural produce to ensure compliance with government and industry standards with respect to quality, health and licensing.

Duties:

• Inspect our main crop blueberries along with cucumbers to assess quality, maturity, firmness, colour, and detect defects, pests, or disease, while providing practical advice to farm operators on improving yield, consistency, and product standards.

• Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance procedures across the production, harvesting, packing, and storage to ensure compliance with food safety, horticultural, and industry standards.

• Conduct routine testing and visual inspections of produce for size, shape, colour uniformity, firmness, moisture levels, and contamination, ensuring strict hygiene standards are maintained during picking, packing, storage, and transportation.

• Advise farm management on cost effective strategies for disease prevention and control, including the impact of fungal infections, pests, irrigation issues, and environmental conditions on the produce.

• Identify common pests and diseases affecting the crops (e.g., mould, mites, fruit flies, powdery mildew, bacterial wilt) and provide guidance on integrated pest management, safe chemical use, and compliance with agricultural regulations.

• Inspect incoming materials such as seedlings, fertilizers, growing media, trellising supplies, and packaging materials to minimise biosecurity risks and maintain farm integrity.

• Monitor farm activities to ensure compliance with agricultural, environmental, and food safety regulations, including correct handling, cooling, and transport of fresh produce.

• Educate farm workers on best practices for harvesting, handling, pruning, trellising, and protecting crops to maintain quality, reduce waste, and prevent crop damage.

• Support documentation, audits, and reporting processes related to farm quality assurance, traceability, spray records, and regulatory compliance.

• Assist in enforcing farm policies and regulatory standards, including participation in internal and external audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives when quality or compliance issues arise.

Qualification:

• AQF Diploma or Higher

• Min 1-2 years of experience in related field

Salary:

• $70,000 - $90,000 + Superannuation

Full Time:

• 38 hours per week
