Position Overview:

BANKSIA CAFE (AUS) PTY LTD – Banksia Oran Park is a full-service modern Australian dining venue located in Oran Park, NSW. The establishment operates across breakfast, brunch and lunch service periods, delivering freshly prepared seasonal menus in a sit-down dining environment. With a focus on quality ingredients, contemporary plating and attentive table service, Banksia Oran Park provides guests with a complete dining experience in a warm and welcoming setting.

As a Chef at BANKSIA CAFE (AUS) PTY LTD, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality menu items while leading efficient day-to-day kitchen operations. This position requires strong culinary skills, organisation, attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent standards across a full-service, multi-period dining operation.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Plan and refine seasonal cafe menus, estimate food and labour requirements, and coordinate the ordering of ingredients and kitchen supplies for daily service.

• Prepare and cook menu items in line with Banksia Oran Park's modern Australian offering, ensuring consistent flavour, portioning and presentation.

• Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation, cooking and plating, and take corrective action where standards are not met.

• Liaise with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house team members regarding food preparation, menu availability, service timing and customer dietary requirements.

• Demonstrate cooking techniques, provide guidance on preparation methods and support kitchen staff in following consistent recipes and procedures.

• Implement and enforce food safety, hygiene, sanitation and safe food-handling practices across the kitchen and food storage areas.

• Assist with selecting, training and supervising kitchen team members to maintain service standards and efficient kitchen operations.

• Manage stock rotation, storage and inventory levels, monitor ingredient usage and help minimise food waste while maintaining product quality.

• Organise mise en place and kitchen workflow to support efficient breakfast, brunch, lunch and other busy cafe service periods.

• Maintain a clean, organised and service-ready kitchen, including workstations, utensils and equipment, and promptly report maintenance or operational issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Relevant qualification, such as a Certificate IV in Kitchen Management.

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Chef.

• Strong knowledge of contemporary cafe-style food preparation, cooking and presentation.

• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, allergen awareness and safe food-handling practices.

• Ability to organise kitchen priorities, work efficiently under pressure and maintain consistency during busy service periods.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a reliable and professional approach.

Salary: The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $80,000 - $85,000 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
