West Balustrades Pty Ltd is an established metal fabrication company with over 20 years of experience servicing the building and construction industry in Sydney. We specialise in architectural metalworks such as balustrades, handrails, awnings, pergolas, privacy screens, louvres, gates, fencing, etc. We use glass, aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel in our metal fabrications.

Although we are a fully Australian-owned company based in Prestons, we work on projects all over Sydney. We are currently seeking experienced Welders / Metal Fabricators to join our growing team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Job Description

Successful applicants must be able to carry out the following duties:

Welding stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium sections using various welding techniques including TIG and MIG.

studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements

selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock

cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines

aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments

joining metal sections using various welding techniques, screwing, bolting and riveting

examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision

finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions

cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding

Installing and fitting fabricated metal works onto building structures, whilst ensuring all metal works are level, plumb, square and true.

Modifying fabricated metal works to achieve a level, plumb, square and true finish.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify this position, you must have:

AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3), or

AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or

Minimum 3 years of experience in metal fabrication.

Remuneration

$80,000 per annum + Superannuation

Remuneration will be discussed with each applicant in view of his/her own qualifications and will reflect current industry award rates and conditions available to full-time permanent employees.
