PanelAid Group Pty Ltd PanelAid is seeking an experienced Solid Plasterer to undertake the preparation, rendering, repair and finishing of precast concrete panels and other concrete surfaces. The Solid Plasterer will apply cement-based renders, plaster, patching compounds and similar protective or decorative materials to concrete components. The position is responsible for producing smooth, level and consistent finishes, repairing surface imperfections and ensuring completed products satisfy project drawings, finish schedules and quality requirements.

This is a hands-on trade position. The successful applicant must be able to work independently and as part of the production and finishing team while observing workplace health and safety procedures. Benefits Task & responsibilities Inspect precast concrete panels and components to identify surface defects, blowholes, chips, cracks, uneven areas, damaged edges and other imperfections requiring repair or finishing.

Prepare concrete surfaces for rendering and plastering by cleaning, grinding, roughening or removing loose and defective materials. Select and prepare appropriate plaster, cement render, patching mortar, bonding agents and cementitious repair compounds for different surfaces and finishing requirements. Measure, mix and prepare plaster, cement, render and similar materials to the required consistency and manufacturer specifications.

Apply base coats and finishing coats of plaster, cement render and protective materials to precast panels and other concrete surfaces using trowels and appropriate application equipment. Level, screed and smooth applied materials to achieve a uniform thickness and finish. Plumb and straighten corners, edges, angles and concrete surfaces to meet dimensional and visual specifications.

Repair joints, fixing points, penetrations, damaged corners and surface irregularities using suitable plastering and cement-based materials. Form, restore and finish panel edges, reveals, corners, mouldings and other architectural details. Create smooth, textured or other specified finishes in accordance with project drawings, samples and client requirements.

Blend repaired sections with surrounding concrete surfaces to produce a consistent colour, texture and appearance. Perform patching and remedial finishing work on precast concrete panels before delivery or installation. Undertake finishing and rectification work on installed components at project sites when required.

Read and interpret drawings, finish schedules, product specifications and work instructions relevant to plastering and concrete finishing work. Calculate and prepare the quantities of materials required for assigned work while minimising wastage. Monitor curing and drying conditions and protect newly finished surfaces from damage or contamination.

Inspect completed work and rectify defects to ensure surfaces meet PanelAid's quality standards and project specifications. Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, mixers, grinders, trowels, straightedges, screeds and other plastering and finishing equipment. Erect, inspect or use ladders, work platforms and scaffolding within the limits of the employee's training and applicable safety requirements.

Maintain a clean and safe work area and correctly store tools, equipment and finishing materials. Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of cement-based materials, silica-containing products and other construction substances. Work collaboratively with production staff, concreters, steel fixers, quality personnel, supervisors and other trades to meet production schedules and project deadlines.

Report product defects, safety risks, damaged equipment and material shortages to the relevant supervisor. Perform other incidental trade-related duties reasonably required within the scope of a Renderer (Solid Plaster) position. Qualification & experience AQF Certificate III in Solid Plastering, or an equivalent relevant trade qualification; or at least three years of relevant employment experience may be considered in place of a formal qualification, subject to the employer's requirements.

At least 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Solid Plasterer or Renderer. Experience in the preparation, repair, rendering and finishing of precast concrete panels or similar concrete products will be highly regarded. Knowledge of solid plastering, rendering and cementitious concrete repair techniques.

Ability to prepare internal and external concrete surfaces for plastering, rendering and finishing. Ability to mix and apply plaster, cement render, repair mortar and similar compounds. Competence in levelling, screeding, straightening and smoothing surfaces to a uniform finish.

Ability to repair cracks, chips, blowholes, damaged edges and other concrete surface defects. Ability to create smooth and textured finishing coats. Ability to read drawings, measurements, specifications and finish schedules.

Knowledge of curing requirements and methods for protecting completed surfaces. Ability to safely operate plastering and surface-preparation tools and equipment. Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements applicable to construction and precast concrete environments.

Strong attention to detail and finish quality. Reliable, punctual and able to meet production deadlines. Capable of working independently with limited supervision.

Works effectively as part of a production or construction team. Good problem-solving skills when addressing surface defects and finishing issues. Physically capable of safely performing the inherent requirements of the position.

Communicates effectively with supervisors, production workers and other trades. Current Australian driver licence. White Card, particularly where work is performed on construction sites.
